I tried it a few month's ago I just can't read DTB any more. I could not enjoy it having to hold the pages then having to remember where I was changing pages etc was to much of a headache and it came to the point where reading a DTB is more of chore then enjoyment. Although to be truthful I have been reading ebooks exclusively for over 10 years now.

I have been reading e-books exclusively since I got my first reader, but when I'll come across a book I want to read, but is not available digitally, I will read the paper version.

Reading paper books is a chore for me because of my poor eyesight. I can do it, but it's not nearly as enjoyable as an ebook. Put me in the 100% ebook category.

Another 100% ebooks here. There's nothing better than seeing a book you want to read and having it on your ereader 30 seconds later

Strongly prefer e-books, and the transition happened really fast to me. I already have a feeling of "crap..." if someone hands me a paper book to read.
The reason is because of why I got an ereader in the first place. I travel a lot, I read in spare moments, I can't afford to be carrying extra weight, and being a rather wee person sometimes handing a book one-handed was a pain. All of that went away as soon as I got an ereader. I read a lot more now. It's so much easier for me. |

Yeah, having to remember what page you were on is a real PITA, although I suppose that is why someone invented bookmarks lol.
I would say 95% of my reading is done with an ereader, some books just can't be adapted to the current generation of eink devices unfortunately. The oddly formatted books would probably look fine on one of those lcd tablet things perhaps, but then we have to worry about batteries again ![]() |

I used to go into bookstores when I passed them by and I had some time on my hands. I don't do that anymore. The embarassing reason is that I've become lazy. First, not a whole lot of interesting Swedish literature coming out. Second, read a lot more literature in English now that I have the Kindle. Third, about ten months ago I passed a store, saw a book in the Window, opened Kindle on my Android and bought the book in less time than it would have taken to walk into the bookstore, find the book, stand in line at the cash registry, listen to cashiers drone on about their private problems while ringing me up, pick out the plastic, have it reject the on-chip a time or two and then walk out again.
Jeez, I'm getting lazy. |

For me it has been so long, I hardly remember what paper books look like.

It takes a lot to get me to read a paperbook these days. I even turn down free ARCs of review copy books just because I can't get be bothered with physical books.

If it's only remotely possible that I can read the e-version instead of the p-version, I'll read the e-version. My p-books collection (which I keep and even will add to) will mostly be for show...

Bookstores are great places to find suggestions for new ebooks to read. The only pbooks that I buy are travel guides and big glossy museum souvenir books.
There is a used book store that I used to visit when we were here in Ft Lauderdale on vacation from as long ago as 16 years. I am glad that they are still inbusiness, but it is tough to understand why. There are never any cars parked in front of the store. I hope they are doing a thriving mail order or something. |

I tend to prefer using my e-readers for some of the same reason others have already stated. I probably would be more inclined to read paper books if there was a bookstore, used or new, anywhere near where I live. It is a couple of hours drive to the nearest. So I figure if I am forced to order online I will get the e-book if available; quicker, not that much difference in cost, and as before more convenient to carry around and read. The exception though is those books that are just not available as e-books. Then my local library system is my only resource.
It is interesting to read how many in this thread say that they will no longer read paper books at all. This seems to have a real impact on the books clubs in this forum. |

This this series I'd like to (re)read. But I just keep putting it off because I only have the paper edition... (and the publisher is one of those that is 100% against ebooks... They'll only create ebooks if the author demands it, I think... And as the author of the books I want to read has been dead for a few years...)

I avoid paper books for 2 reasons 1) clumsy to hold and read, especially if heavy 2) small fonts. I have discovered that my eyes do not like small fonts. Ok, I have reading glasses, but for me it is clumsy to wear them while reading because of my preferred reading positions. Ebook reader makes such an easy reading!
I really loved book shops, but now when I pass them I remind me of next time when I will be moving from one place to another - all that carrying! I might start to buy new p-books when I have settled down; and only for those books that are not available as ebooks or have extra value as a paper book (e.g. large colorful pictures). |

I don't think I've purchased or read a single paper book since I got my first e-Reader in ~Mar/Apr 2010.
