I agree. I wouldn't find a crooked display acceptable--it would drive me nuts.

So, I have sent it back on Tuesday (Germany). Does anybody know how long it takes to get a new one back?

I got one of those. It's a shame because other than that it was working fine. Sending it back. Hopefully the new one does not have any problem.

I think every T1 has missing pixels at the sides because the plastic cover's window is smaller then the display. You don't see all 600x800 pixels but maybe around 594x796.

No, but it is really crooked, it is like it is slighly rotated of a few degrees. You can see it very well if you have a black cover.

I believe you. Mine is slightly crooked, too. Not much though. If I compare the lower side's edges, there's a difference of about 2 pixels.

I just noticed the crooked display, too. It's weird because when I first read this thread I didn't see any crookedness on my T1, but today it was just glaringly obvious. When a straight line was displayed at the bottom of the screen (via web browser), I could see that the screen was rotated about 2-3 pixels to the right.

Urghhhhhhhh... has anyone dealt with this issue with Sony US?

ps. I did a hard reset & format and that seems to have alleviated the problem. It still looks a few pixels off, but in Photoshop (with a digital camera picture) it doesn't look bad. Since it's hard to prove the problem, I guess I'll just have to live with it.

For what is worth, I did call sony and they are sending a replacement. They did not make a fuss, I explained the problem and they agreed right away.

If your display is really crooked, no hard reset in the world could change that! This isn't a software related problem.
Did you took the photo from the right perspective?

You're right. It turned out that the thin black frame between the screen and the bezel (the part that has to do with the screen touch input) was crooked together with the screen. So I had to measure from the plastic bezel, not from the black border, to verify the crookedness.

I called Sony Service and Repair to submit a claim. And guess what, they absolutely had to make sure that I tried the internal memory format, hard reset, and firmware update check, for a problem that they termed "screen misalignment". DUH!! It took almost an hour on the phone. And that wasn't the first time they asked me to go through all those steps. I had called Sony Tech Support first, and the rep basically said: try the three above and if it doesn't work, too bad. HA. Anyway, they're supposed to ship me a refurbished replacement unit soon. (Fingers crossed)
