I invested i think about 8 bucks in the amazon web store for a pack of two screen protectors for the fire.
The gorilla glass may prevent scratching, however i found that my finger would grab on drag efforts making the imperfect kf sensitivity worse. That, and fingerprint oil wasn't wiping off or getting any better unless i added glass cleaner and microfiber to the process. I'm very happy with These skins, the brand is Spare Products, they came with EXCELLENT. Instructions, a microfiber wipe, a "squeege" aka stoic card for smoothing out bubbles, and a stickybacked card for removing failed attempts gently so as to permit.second chances to get it right in the event of a dusty environment. Or poor positioning. Def worth the money. Now my of surfaCE IS SMOOTHE, MY finger slides evenly, and the skin has a pleasantly matte surface with no glare. The stiff card smoothed out the bubbles very effectively. |

I own XO Skins and Xtreme and they are both made of the same material. The keyword in the description for both products: helicopter blades. http://www.xtremeguard.com/aboutus.asp http://xoskins.com/ I agree XO Skins are excellent and I have one installed on my Entourage Pocket Edge with no complaints. However, I have an Xtreme on my Viewsonic gTab and it is equally nice. I have ordered them both (Xtreme doesn't make a screen protector for the Pocket Edge). The difference is that XO skins in addition to the screen protector sends you a spray bottle of soap solution, a cloth, and a squeegee. Xtreme only sends you a screen protector and you have to make the solution with water and a couple of drops of soap and you use a credit card to squeegee it. Again, I agree XO skins are excellent but, so are Xtreme. There both great choices. Last edited by obsessed2; 11-25-2011 at 03:20 PM. |

Kind of strange but I don't find I need anything other than a microfiber cloth. No cleaning liquids or water to completely clear it of fingerprints.
This seems to get the job done quite well and can be found at a number of stores. |

I asked their customer service what was safe and they said as long as it wasn't anything acidic like window cleaner it should be fine.

As one who wouldn't consider using a touch device without a screen protector, I am surprised that I prefer to use my Fire "naked." I carry one of my microfiber cloths used on my camera lenses and I find it is all that is needed. The surface stays surprisingly clean.

Don't the fingerprints drive you crazy? Before I used these I hated that.

Me too. I definitely hate the fingerprints but I hate losing screen clarity even more. I put a non-glare screen protector on my iPad that was so terrible I had to immediately remove it. It made already blurry text even more unreadable. I put a non-glare screen protector on my NookColor that was so-so. It was like looking through a thin piece of glass with thousands of micro-sized air bubbles. It didn't blur the text, but the gritty look would get to my eyes after a while. Since screen protectors cost around $20 it is a huge gamble, IMO, and one not worth taking.
