Personally, I've only sent a gadget back once. In this particular case, the successor product was available for an even lower price the very same day I've ordered the "outdated" one.

I don't even send products back I don't like (actually, this would be the case for maybe 30% to 50% of my gadgets. Acer Iconia and Asus EeePad Transformer for example I haven't used even once, after testing them the very first day. And I find the rate of low quality and disappointing products gets bigger in an alarming rate).
I'm more of a "I decided for it, I stick to it (if it's without technical defects of course)" kind of guy.

I'd even say, some failure once in a while makes the hits even more appealing. But to each his own...
Thanks MGM, I agree! Karma to you.

I can't help but think the price of goods sold has factored in the cost of returns, so we all end up paying for the leeches that buy something, use it for 13 or 29 or 89 days then bring it back soiled for a full refund.

I have a sister-in-law who used to brag about buying something from Macy’s using it for a month, taking it back, and then buying the very same item back from the basement for half the price.

I've just ordered it (Samsung Note). Should be here tomorrow morning.
Sorry
I had ordered the LG Optimus Pad (8.9" tablet). Expansys can't deliver (although they had confirmed and didn't give any response for 5 days!), so I HAD to order another gadget.
I'm very curious about the stylus and the note function. Updates in about 14 hours, thanks to super-reliable Amazon.

What you describe reminds me of an episode of "King of Queens", in which Carrie tried this scheme.

A friend of mine used to say: "To some it's important to drive a Porsche, even if they don't have any furniture in their house". I think, that's the attitude behind the "test and send back" mentality: "I can't afford it, but look how cool I am with my new iPhone (or whatever hip gadget)". Personally, I don't get it. If I can't afford it, but test it for some days, I'd find it even more frustrating to give it back and again be without it...

You had to go there

This is actually the product I've wanted for many years but no company was even close to making it so I'm pretty set on getting it. That is if they release it here in the states. None the less I'd like to hear you opinion of the product, I've always felt you always give an honest review of products.

I have always missed the stylus, for taking notes and for hitting links in the browser. Glad to see it is making a comeback in spite of certain people doing everything to kill it off.

And unfortunaly I am not MGmueller, my wife would kill me if I bought a new phone right now. Well, I really don't need a new one to be honest. The Samsung Note is just a slightly improved Dell Streak.

My husband would kill me, so we'll simply have to hang on to every word MGmueller writes

Samsung Galaxy Note

Just unboxing it.
I've got it from Amazon in less than 12 hours!

I really have to say:
I'm getting impressed with Samsung.
The package is the very same style as the one for Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.
I very much like this kind of consistency.

And, as always, I love Amazon.
Their logistics always are perfectly to the point.
And, should you need support, they actually have one. Not just some outsourced help desk without any expertise. Real specialists, polite and competent.

And now....very first impressions about Samsung Galaxy Note:

Wow. It's not heavy at all.
The low weight makes it feel a bit flimsy and "plasticky".
But it's styled very nicely.
I'd say: Far from looking or feeling cheap, but slightly behind iPhone 4 (but then again: Who/what is up to par with Apple design-wise?) in its "touch and feel".
But, of course, for a phone that size, low weight is a good thing. I'll have it in my suit pocket most of the time.

The back cover snaps off easily. I'm not worried, it might come off on its own by accident.
SIM and Micro SD card both are placed next to the (user exchangeable) battery. For now, I've only got the Micro SD. I'm permanently running out of SIM cards. I'll have to see, whether I go for an additional SIM here or take one from another gadget or just stick to WiFi.

Volume is controlled on the left. The power button is on the right, where I'd usually expect volume control.

There's a software update waiting already. "Insert SIM card". WTF? Why can't I update via WiFi only?
Taking the SIM (for now) from my new Sony Tablet P. I guess, the SIM is needed for localisation.

Now, looking at the screen: Although the display is significantly bigger than your "usual phone", it's not pixelated at all. But nothing "special" either. I'd say, it's about what I'd expect from any "tablet".

More later on in my "8+ readers" thread.

Interesting review of the Sony P on Notebookcheck: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-...D.66694.0.html. I like their reviews, usually very thorough! However, they didn't mention the enTourage eDGe in their discussion of hinged tablets <pout>.
