No hostilities taken. Internet forums are useful for technical help, but the emotional aspects, including my acting like a toddler (pobrecito) who’s Big Brother won’t give him his toy should be left out.
After lurking on this site for a while and seeing all positive comments on Amazon’s customer service, coupled with being taken in a bit with the marketing hype, I guess I let my expectations get a little too high. Then I was travelling overseas when I realized that my new toy wasn’t going to be waiting for me on the one day I would be home before flying out again, hence the chat/email route rather than a $1/minute international phone call. Now I can spend time with the relatives without an extra distraction from what does really matter. So thanks to all for your responses. |

wdi,
In your case, I don't think that the ship date of November 17 was unreasonable on Amazon's part. They just started shipping the Kindle Touches on November 15 (which was 6 days earlier than their original start-ship date of November 21), and they had millions of orders to process. Your October 1 and October 2 orders weren't as early as those who pre-ordered right after the devices were announced on September 28. I do think that the estimated delivery date of November 28 is ridiculous, though. That's 11 days after they shipped your Kindles! I suspect that they may have overestimated the transit time and you'll get it sooner. They do that with USPS packages sometimes. That's why I asked which carrier Amazon used. At least with UPS, you have some idea where the package is at any given point, and their actual delivery date generally matches what they state on their tracking site. I've always had outstanding results with Amazon's customer service. Their call-back phone option has worked best for me. Just last week they sent me a replacement for my Kindle that I've had for a year. No hassle, and they sent it via two-day shipping. I always get their free Super Saver shipping, and I've never had a package take 11 days to arrive. Anyway...I hope you are happy with the devices. And welcome to MobileRead! This forum really is a wonderful place to learn and share information, so I hope you'll stick around. ![]() |

I really hope you get yours soon. I placed my order on 11/15 and just received mine today. I'm also in NJ. I'm a prime member, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I would call them or have someone in the US call them for you. I've dealt with Amazon's CS via Chat (and also got the how to on tracking) Calling is so much better and helpful!

I think there is some sort of misunderstanding going on here. When you pre-order something, the date given is not the date you will get it, but the date it will ship. So if Amazon says they will release the K4T on say November 17, and they do, your pre-order ships on November 17, local stores get to sell on November 17 and you get it however long it takes to ship based on the shipping method you chose. Given the holiday, standard 5-7 days shipping will take longer. So including the 17th, 7 business days would the November 28th. There's no problem. It's just how it works. If it wasn't for Thanksgiving, the order would have arrived by November 25th.
