Kyobo Releases First Mirasol (Color e-ink) Reader
So far it's only out in S. Korea and seems to be aimed more at the education industry. Nonetheless, given some time, it may find its way to the states.

I would hope that something like this makes it stateside. I'd love to have a color eInk reader.

While I'd be interested to see how they've managed it, I can't say I'm impressed with the color or clearness. The colors looked too 'watercolor' for me, and the Kanji (if that's the right word) looked a bit mushy.
I'd have to hold one and play with it to tell, but I'd much rather a sharp picture/font than a mushy water-colored one. I already have a tablet for sharp color and fonts. |

Let us hope they will come out with 7", 8", 10" devices soon. But battery life seems less than stellar. 30 minutes of reading a day means the battery will last for a week, with an "energy efficient bi-stable display"??? Did they do the math on this or is this a pea size battery?
Another unknown is how does the black&white experience stack up against an e-ink Pearl display? Perhaps we have to convince MGMueller to buy one and report back to us ![]() Last edited by HansTWN; 11-22-2011 at 11:11 PM. |

The first color eInk ereader (also only released to the academic market, for now) would
be the Ectaco (google: "ectaco color e-ink") The eInk company uses the codename "Triton" for this display.
