That is assuming that their stated complaints (real and made-up) are the *cause* of their Amazon hatred.

Reading between the lines of some of the screeds it is clear that their issues with Amazon are rooted in its competitive threat to their vested interests rather than their products' failure to satisfy. (That is: personal and emotional rather than logical and detached.)

You are quite right.

It just seems that they spend a lot of time complaining about Amazon. I would have thought that they would have found a good alternative that they could be happy with and just put Amazon out of their mind.

I simply don't like Amazon the business plan, how they seem to try to become the biggest, control, and monopolise every field they enter.
That's the way it seems to me, anyway.

I'm allowed, aren't I ?

I don't "complain" about Amazon much, apart from the odd dig, and I'm perfectly happy to be outside the church looking in.

I mean, ".....resentment/hatred/bigots......" ?
My word,it does seem rather a lot of ire to turn on those who just feel the same as I do. I don't think we threaten anyone, do we ?
In fact, you seem to be complaining a great deal, about anyone who isn't as enamoured with Amazon as you are ......

Doth thee protest perhaps too much ?

I mean, I haven't got, shall we say, an inferiority complex about not having a kindle, so...............

Is it not just normal business practice to try to become the biggest and most successful? The capitalist dream and all that.

From my side Amazon seem to be one of the few companies selling books and readers that realize that the world doesn't end at the US border.

Its the incessant complaining that I am questioning. Of course they don't like Amazon, but why the need to bring that up on every other thread?

I see nothing wrong in your criticizing Amazon, either. That was not the point of my comment. My question is, would you now voice these same concerns in another Amazon thread tomorrow and the next day in another, and again in another?

If so, why?

Granted what you've said in this post makes a lot more sense to me, personally, than your other post about the "30 second interruption" thing. That just seemed silly.

Oh. One note on the ad thing: Its the purchaser's choice whether or not to now download ads...and that same purchaser can also cancel them at no cost, so I don't think a refund is necessary. Those who bought their device "Ad free" stay "ad free" unless they choose to do otherwise.
Plus, I think Amazon realizes that if it tried to make ad support mandatory, that people would stop buying their readers.
