You obviously don't know too much about bugs in Windows, do you?
A quick Google got me to a list of bugs that Microsoft fixed in Windows 2000 with their Service Pack 2: List of bugs fixed in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (1 of 4) - 176 bugs listed List of bugs fixed in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (2 of 4) - 153 bugs listed List of bugs fixed in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (3 of 4) - 120 bugs listed (I'm not sure what happened to part 4 of 4, I can't seem to find it). Now bear in mind that this was the list of bugs fixed in Service Pack 2, Microsoft had already fixed a whole heap of bugs in Service Pack 1. Altogether Microsoft released four Service Packs for Windows 2000, so you could hardly say that they got it right first time around. And Windows 2000 is considered to be one of the most stable versions of Windows that Microsoft ever released! Pretty much all of these bugs would have caused problems for someone, somewhere. Some of these bugs caused user's data to be lost. So your assertion that people wouldn't accept bugs within Windows simply doesn't hold water. As a software developer with over twenty years experience I can tell you that pretty much all software has bugs, it's an accepted given in this industry. A few months ago, for some light relief, I had a look in the Nook, Kindle and Sony forums here to see if people were talking about problems with these other devices and I found plenty of complaints. |

I am very happy with my two Touches. I've certainly had some issues and I wish the response from Kobo customer care had been better but I doubt I would have been any happier with any other device - I would just be having a different set of problems. |

I have mixed feelings about my KT. At first I had the Kobo wifi reader but gave it to one of our children as a present loaded up with all her favorite books.
Where the mixed feelings come in is that I do like the KT, but I find myself fluctuate between patience hoping that the next upgrade offers a bit more, and impatience because I was expecting a "finished product" for the price I paid. (Full price about a month after release) I find it hard to defend the KT to friends who want this or that feature that other e-readers have, straight out of the box upon purchasing (at a lower price), while I am waiting for the "next firmware update" at an as-yet unknown time. However, for what it currently is able to do, the search features, the searching for a book in the library, and the page turning speed, I am enjoying the experience. But I am saving for my birthday in the spring, to maybe purchase another reader and give this one to my husband. |

In my opinion Kobo software is fine, they came out with 1.8 for the K1 and fixed the bugs within a few days if I recall correctly.

It really bugs me when people think that the Vox has now replaced the Kobo Touch it has not, they are two totally different devices. I do realize that the Kobo support seems to be understaffed because it takes 2+ days to get a response in between comments. Other than that everything else seems to work great. I haven't had many problems with my kobo wifi reading kobo books, but pdfs and text files are a different matter... and it's merely due to small memory and a slow processor... would upgrade to a touch but I dunno if it would be any better... avoiding the vox all together as there are better tablets out there.
as for software (kobo for windows) issues, none, though would prefer an option to remove bookmarks from read and closed books... customer service is slow to answer but they do answer... by email. |

The Touch is a great deal better at handling PDFs than the first two Kobos. That said, the vast majority of PDFs I've come across just don't work on a 6" (or even a 7") screen without a lot of zooming and panning. Some Sony readers have reflow, but if PDFs are one of the main things you'll be viewing, it might be best to look at a 9-10" reader or slate.

kobo customer service is terrible
My daughter had her kobo touch less than a month and it is already dead. We bought the cover, she hasn't dropped it - she's very careful with it. Tried to get help from Chapters where we bought it and they said deal with Kobo. I have been dealing with them for weeks and I'm so angry. They either have so many complaints or they have too few staff. It has taken WEEKS to get any reply from them - I have now escalated my problem to the manager's manager and she still hasn't contacted me! What company will allow a complaint to go unanswered for days by a senior manager? Forget getting a refund from Chapters because their refund policy is 14 days - but then Kobo is saying because we bought it from Chapters that they cannot give us a refund. That's ridiculous. Chapters has done such a good job advertising the Kobo that I didn't know I could buy it anywhere else! Sure it's a nice looking product but if you have any problems good luck getting any help from kobo.

Monique - Chapters is usually really good about EXCHANGING any Kobo product bought from Kobo or one of their stores. Why do you want a refund? You obviously got a lemon, and just need to exchange it for one that works (there are a lot out there that do work!).
I can empathize with the OP. I do agree that Kobo has had its share of really bad quality control and really bad customer service. It's frustrating to not get to speak to a person that can help, within a reasonable amount of time. Because I am a tad technical, very resourceful, and very agressive, I rarely have opportunities where I hit a brick wall. Unfortunately, the average user is not me - and will be banging their heads against that brick wall very quickly - when immediately results are not received. That means Kobo products are probably not suited for the average joe (unless that average joe happens to be very lucky, and goes a while with no issues - or that average joe has very simple needs and perhaps isn't put off by waiting weeks for answers). I am going through some issues right now with my Vox, but I am trying to resolve the issues through the use of this forum (and that's what I've done in the past with issues with my Kobo WiFi). I think if I ever had to call the 'regular' customer service line, I'd be in for a fun ride... (not fun!). |

Agree. Simply can't take the problems and poor customer service from Kobo. I was an original, first generation Kobo owner. Paid full price on pre-order in the states. But nothing but problems from bad information from customer service -- just how many times are they going to tell to do a factory reset before they realize that is not the problem.
I've given up and gone to a Nook Touch. I wanted to love the Kobo. Did everything I could and gave them every opportunity. |

This latest release has made my kobo touch experience better. I love the book reader and plan to keep it for as long as I can.

And for those that said that other e-readers simply didn't have problems to the extent that the Kobo ones do: Amazon Kindle Fire owners reporting Wi-Fi bug

Since I've had to do a factory reset every single time I've plugged my Kobo Touch in, emailed them several times, they email me back a file, then I have to do the setup several times before it actually loads, then gets to the middle of my library and says it's full and I should delete unwanted books, I really don't need to get their ads for the latest products. A website that is so slow and so bad I feel like it's the 80's, problems every time -they should be paying ME
