Jack, my friend, this desktop software issue had been a bee in your bonnet from the time you first found the Kobo forum on MR. You could want it more than you want peace on earth, but that is probably not going to convince the Kobo folks to deviate from their plans--which may, or may not, eventually address this issue.

If anything having a support to sync a folder from DropBox would be totally awesome. Of course doesn't have to be DropBox (I guess they would have to pay for that)

So really just a cloud based storage of books.

There is an Aldiko apk that uses dropbox to sync books across Android devices. Here is the MR thread about it: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=149283 Now, Touch is not an Android device, but I think it is an example of what you are talking about.
