I called Sony and requested a $20 reimbursement due to the $20 reduction in the T1 price since I bought mine. They readily granted my request. (Obviously, I bought my T1 from Sony Style!).

Whilst I'm pleased for you over there I can't help wondering why Sony have reduced the price of the T1 so soon after launch.

I wonder if it is something to do with the teething troubles and they are trying to head off any bad press.

1) Serious competition - Despite their attempt to move down to a more generally affordable price point (versus their earlier stance as a premium reader, with matching price tag), every major touch-based e-reader in the US is less expensive (Amazon - 99/129, Nook - 99 (within the next couple weeks) and refurbs at 79, Kobo - 129). 2) Poor sales (likely due to the above).

3) Luring in hesitant buyers who already own Sony products.

4) Poor word of mouth due to the stability issues.

The old models were always way too pricey for me, but now having recently gotten a PRS-350 secondhand... I think their old models are more desirable than the T-1. And I can't help but think that they know that too.

Typical Sony sales strategy. Price high and then have sales or trade-in programs. They did the same thing last year to discount the price in Nov and Dec on the x50 models. In the UK last year they had a VAT rebate program. They have to stay competitive for Christmas sales.

I have not seen anything here yet so I would assume they are not going to do anything in the way of a special offer prior to Christmas.

Not that I'm in the market for a T1 as I am more than happy with my 650, but it would be nice for those who are.

Currently we do not seem to have the same range of readers as you do in the States so there is not the pressure on Sony to stay competitive.

I'm surprised at the continued demand for the 950. I sold mine in less than 24 hours. The buyer seemed genuinely thrilled.
