Same here. I had bought the hardcover version and was planning on reading that but for $5 I saw no reason not to buy the ebook version, too, especially as I prefer reading on my Sony 950 over reading the hardcover version of books.

It's a book that's discounted, so it should be eligible.

Okay, you people are making me paranoid, so I just went and put in my order instead of continuing to dither over whether I wanted the somewhat overpriced anthology I don't own with one story by a favourite author which was just barely acceptably priced at 50% off (and Topaz at Amazon besides), or the e-version of the novel I already own in two languages in paperback.

So not more than 5 minutes ago I just went through the checkout process, and my order, with the discount coupon, went through just fine.

Perhaps you two should check to see if you're entering the code right?

The Reader Store input field tends to be very picky about trailing spaces and such, so if you're copy-pasting a slightly sloppy selection, that could be what's giving you the error message.

Incidentally, for people looking for good-quality eligible non-Agency books which don't happen to be cheaper elsewhere, I suggest the catalogue of Open Road Media, who makes a specialty of reprinting well-known "name" authors such as Pat Conroy and Lawrence Block and Ira Levin and Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine and Iris Murdoch et al.

I myself just bought Barbara Hambly's Bride of the Rat God using the coupon, and I recommend it to anyone seeking a fun paranormal/horror/fantasy thriller set in silent film Hollywood.

MLR Press' stuff is also available via Fictionwise, so if you're interested in more by their authors including Banis, you can get them really cheap DRM-free and MultiFormat when they have the good coupon discounts.

Nope, I just tried it again, still won't work.

I've pasted the code, I've typed in the code, I've checked and double-checked for extra spaces and whatnot--it simply will not work no matter how many times I try it. I've even emptied the cart and shut down the program between tries.

I was able to use the last 50 percent off code at Sony a little while ago, but this one just will not work for me. Grrr.

P.S. I second the recommendation for Open Road. Other authors include Anne Perry (the earlier Thomas Pitt novels) and Leon Uris.

M, Many of us have tried it. It doesn't work, no matter how it is entered.

Sorry to hear the code still wouldn't work for you. About the only thing I can really think of that I might have done differently (I'd hand-typed the code just like Catlady tried) is that I entered it into the Redeem Code box long before I decided on a book to buy.

Maybe Sony limits the window of time in which you can put the code into your account, but then you can use it readily after that until the posted expiry date.

The other thing is that Sony apparently likes to expire their codes a bit early and that valid until the 8th really means "will work up until the minute before the 8th starts, Eastern Time, and then you're doomed", not "valid throughout the day of the 8th". I was caught out by this on another offer and managed to get it put into my account by contacting Customer Service, since it was a promo with purchase deal.

Anyway, hopefully they'll have another one soon and people will have better luck with it.
