[QUOTE=HarleyB;1821048]I'm not sure if I am understanding your concern? Are you worried about having 2 copies of your books on your Kobo? Or are you worried about having your books in ADE as well as in Calibre?

If you are concerned by having a copy of your books in ADE as well as a copy of your books in Calibre please don't be. I have all my books in ADE, and also in Calibre. I also have backup copies on a portable hard drive, several USB sticks and a laptop.

QUOTE]

I just thought I had to just have my books in Calibre if I used that mainly

So heres my situation now All my free ebooks are nicely sorted and loooking good in Calibre (including a few more I just found)

In ADE i have library books and Kobo books. Also all my free ebooks apart from the ones I just found.
So do I still need to add the new ones to Calibre every time also?
Gets complicated and time consuming Calibre is so slow and freezes.

Is there a quick way to make sure they both have the same books?

I now have my books in 3 folders lol My Digital Editions, Calibre and the folder I created to save them all in as well
Need a simple explanation Am an oldie lol

What version of Calibre are you currently using? Normally you only need to uninstall if your current version is quite old.

Your version of calibre is shown at bottom left of the application main page .
The calibre versions 0.6.17 and older it is telling you to delete before upgrading was released before June 2010.

I don't think most of us worry about this as much as you do, polli. When I download a book with ADE DRM, I click on the acsm link and the book opens in Adobe ADE and automatically goes into the My Digital Editions folder ADE creates in My Documents. I then open Calibre, and import the book into Calibre from the ADE directory if I want some Calibre magic on that book. Both folders are backed up like any other folder as part of my automated routine.

I am a BIG believer in automated routines I too take backups of the Calibre Library AND ADE folder when changes are made, along with backups of the Kobo when it is plugged in, plus of course nightly backups of my PC.

For the folder / Kobo backups I use a tool called Allway Sync

Thanks
Since I am completely new to ebooks I hadn't got a clue what to do

Most of my books are free no drm books I have found so far
Just didn't know what folder to put them in and also what program to use.

Didnt want to be bent over the computer at a later date having to sort them all out when I have 100s

Calibre, Digital Editions ( which only has 3 books I bought in it) and My ebooks Folder I created full of drm free ebooks I found.

You can manage all non-drm books on Calibre, so you should only have two (Calibre + ADE).

So, you can import our ebooks folder to Calibre, and then remove it.

Somebody could liberate books from ADE and then import them to Calibre to handle those as well.

My non-DRM books are also in Calibre. I have a portable HD that I use to back up my entire My Documents folder, where all of my books, in all of their formats, live. I have it in my purse most of the time, because I also back up my office/work files on the drive.

Go to work, backup my home files to my work machine. Go home, back up my work files to my home machine. My office does not have a network. I use sync toy.

I also use allway sync to automatically backup the kobo kepub books to a kepub backup file in My Documents. It is set as a one-way sync. Books come from their initial resting place to that file, but they never leave, even if they disappear from the original location.
