I agree and am glad to have a working version again. I'm going to pass on about the lack of support from Kobo to W H Smith (the shop I bought it from). Still haven't had any further response from Kobo.

I too am waiting beyond the 24-28 hrs for a support response. Granted it has been a weekend; perhaps their auto-generated email should state "1 to 2 business days" instead.

You Know I noticed that now you can not even review your problem and status. I wonder what prompted this lack of support.

They changed that at least a couple of weeks ago. Supposedly part of a change in their contact management software. Can't say I like not even being able to look up previous stuff. I don't fully trust their e-mails getting to me even if I check my junk mail folder.

Smile I just fixed my Kobo Touch

Hi All

My Kobo was stuck on the Do You Want To Connect To Your Computer screen and I tried the paperclip in the back, a different USB Port, and even a hard reboot (hold start button over while pressing down home button for 10 seconds), nothing worked. The I went to my PC's desktop icon for KOBO
and clicked on it only to discover that it needed updating. I did the update and plugged my KOBO back in and 10 secondes later it fired right up. Works fine.

Good luck. I hope this helps you.

Rememebr one thing that can make diagnosing problems with eInk devices is that the screen does not need power to retain an image.

Many times we've seen people who thought their unit was dead discover that the real issue was a totally discharged battery. With a dead battery, no combination of buttons, power switch, reset pin-hole will change the display.

So any time you think it's dead, try leaving it plugged in to either a wall based USB charger or a PC / MAC for a few hours.

Smile How to fix frozen kobo touch

[Q

UOTE=tsb1;1813927]I bought my Kobo Touch a week and a half ago. I believe it upgraded itself to the latest software release when I plugged it in (1.9.something). Yesterday I started using it and the battery charge was showing a quarter when I switched it on. After several minutes it swapped to the 'Please Charge Your eReader' screen. I connected it to my PC using the USB cable and nothing happened - even after leaving it for over an hour. A soft reset (pin in hole in the back) has no effect. It's still showing this screen.

Any suggestions?

Thanks[/QUOTE]

If you hold the button on the front and the on/off switch at the same time, for at least 10 seconds, it should correct itself.
