I think we'll see an NC2 and maybe a cheaper, bottom-line Nook, like the Kindle4.I've also heard rumors of a 10" tablet, but that's definitely next year

well we can hope. the thing is, i like the form factor of the Nook STR (side page turn buttons, touch), my only problems with it are the software limitations (no real web browser or ability to download books over wi-fi-yes i know rooting can solve these issues). I've also read some reviews saying the hardware isn't quite as polished as it could be either, but the Nook STR comes as close to what I want as can be, but misses the mark due to stupid limitations. (I can understand limiting downloading books over 3G if it's provided, but over wi-fi? bleh.. same problem with PRS-950).

As for other eInk models... it's possible, of course, specially since Amazon now offers a Kindle for under $100. But I would rather B&N did not. Amazon has the money to invest in multiple devices, B&N doesn't. I think they need to stick to making a limited number of devices. There is no need to go after every niche and sub-niche out there. Leave the 5" and 9.7" to others. Just stick to making the Nook STR and Nook Color as good as possible, give customers as refined and cohesive and pleasurable experience as you can on those two devices, and that's good enough. The rest of the market can go to hell. Let's face it: it's not like the Kindle DXes of the industry are setting the world on fire. |

Has there been the time to do that since the Fire was released? What we will will see will be something that they have planned for a while.

In addition to the devices themselves, I was wondering if they could be offering some type of real cloud service.

Rumors have been going around for a Nook Color 2 for months now. I think the odds on that are pretty good, especially with Kindle Fire out now.

If there had been talk about this, I haven't seen it. I still have the NC, so I'd be interested in something like that. I think I'll buzz on over to the BN forum and see what the talk is over there.

Kindle Fire competitor is what I suspect.... They're gonna have to really pull something big though.
