No, not a bad joke. I'm those kind of persons who believe in soul, and something beyond corporal body.

I had a friend who joked saying my iOS devices were going to stop working when he passed.

I think a few of us that like Apple products are a touch worried they are going to stray off path.

I am really looking forward to iPad 3 with a screen leap in resolution though..

A bit off topic, but would you upgrade or change your iPad2 for a possible iPad3?

I think that besides resolution, it's going to be difficult for Apple to provide a very solid and noticeable upgrade over current iPad2. The main difference between iPad2 and 1st gen is weight, but not sure if they can make it even less heavy than current model.

My dream tablet would be an iPad with same screen size and weight than Kindle DXG.

1. Ipad2 has a 3 axis gryoscope that ipad doesnt have.
2. Ipad 2 has 512 mb ram ipad has 256mb ram
3. Ipad 2 has 1ghz dual core A5 cpu (with better graphics processing) ipad has an a4 single core.

this doesnt sound like much but its a major differense in gaming, video playing video/photo editing and basic auto cad work and art programs ... if all you do is read books or surfing the internet and texting then yes its not much of a difference.

Agreed-I found the upgrade to be a big improvement (plus ergonomically I just prefer holding the 2)


And if the iPad 3 has a retina display, that will definitely be a major upgrade, imho.

Besides the obvious hardware improvement, at the moment of the release, the iPad2 was very similar in terms of operating system and apps.

The jump in hardware is not a big one, not in my opinion or to justify getting rid of old iPad to get a new one. As a matter of fact, there is a thread here were most iPad1 users decided to wait for iPad3. On my case, I returned and exchange because I bought mine few days before release.

The axis gyroscope could be great for you, but not a big difference on most common or regular users. The CPU was the biggest improvement.

But as a reading device, which is why most people here use the iPad, there were not major differences in screen and/or weight.

If you use your iPad as a game device, not reading, then I agree with you. But my comment is in the context of reading devices, not a game tablet.

Now, this is my personal opinion, but for content creation I still prefer a regular laptop or notebook. I do not believe tablets are good enough for serious content creation work, like photo editing, autocad, word processing ... no yet, at least ...

Yes, I would consider that an important change as a reading device, at least.

I'm still on iPad1. I think that for those of us in that situation, iPad 3, whatever it holds, will be a huge improvement.

Me to, but I'm not buying iPad 3 unless it comes with a Retina display/big bump in resolution.. Thats the big upgrade for me, the rest is just a big bonus.. icing on the cake.
