Ooh, interesting. I havent used it on my iPad because i read on the phone most of the time. Must give it a run shortly. Not a good look if its supposed to be universal. I also have ipad1 on iOS5. Will upgrade next year.

readMe has crashed several times for me as well, sort of seems to hang for a little bit and then shutdown. I'm also on iOS5 for my iPad. I like readMe a lot, but wonder how it will handle the 1800+ eBooks I want to load on to it. While there are a lot of features that I like, the one thing so far that I don't like is that it doesn't seem to sort titles in alphabetical order when I view in author order.

Don't update unless you absolutely must have iCloud. If I could go back only to 4.3.3 or .4 or .5 I would. But I can only go to 4.1 and that is way too far for some of my other apps.

I guess I'll have to continue with iBooks as there are several aspects to Bluefire that I don't like: no metadata editing; no alphabetical title sort when sorting your library in Author order; the app continually going to Recent when started and the fact that the library handles so few books - any more than 350-400 and the continues to crash. I don't have any of those issues with iBooks |

![]() Honestly, if readMe would sort by tags as well as author/title/date I would update my phone in a heartbeat! So far, I really like readMe that much. Mary |

I didnt even try 1800. I sideloaded 400 initially and then found that although it seemed fast at first, it started falling over, not responding to taps etc, and it became really laggy when it did work. So I got rid of about half of those and still it wasnt crash hot. I think maybe its like the others, OK with a few books at a time but forget about carrying your entire library (I have over 4,000. Not happening) This is a great little reader though, for maybe 100 books. I dont know what the magic number is and probably wont find out. I just caved in and have downgraded my 3GS to OS4.1. Syncing apps and music now, and will be so glad to get back into stanza. [edit] It occurs to me, however, that there could be a relationship between the lag in readMe, and the generalised lag I have on iOS5 on my 3GS, in any case. I'll reinstall readMe and see how it goes under an older OS. If you have an iphone 4 or 4S, it might be OK. Last edited by kyteflyer; 10-30-2011 at 06:36 PM. Reason: additional comment |

Sorry, didn't mean to give the impression that I can edit the metadata in iBooks. I load all of my eBooks into Calibre and edit the metadata through the Edit Metadata tab. Occasionally I need to use Tweak ePub and adjust the content.opf details as well. I like to have all of my eBooks in a series in reading order so I add a series code and book number in front of the title e.g. The Killing Floor is the first book in Lee Child's Jack Reacher series, so I would edit the title so that it would be JR01 The Killing Floor, the second Ebook in the series would be JR02 etc. As iBooks lists eBooks in alphabetical order when sorting your library by Author I can have all of my eBooks listed in the order I want.

Of course... when we had stanza, we could do that on the fly. Not change the opf but at least make some changes to author and title (and book cover if one was out there) |
