That being said. I don't see why we can't update our versions. I wonder what if any differences there are to a stock u-boot. I think we should be able to burn our own images replacing new versions. I think by understanding the update.sh should help us to create a more recent version of Android. Again, the main thing will be to figure out what was modded by Entourage to take advantage of the e-ink screen.

It's not just the e-ink screen that has to be considered but the capabilities of the processor has to be taken into account as well.

BTW, how is the soldering going?

Haven't had the nerve to try it yet (actually I have not had the time, tiling my basement floor).

All I really wanted to know was if it was the correct switch, or at least one that would do the job.

I've looked through the code to see how feasible it is to compile a new kernel based on what they gave us, and there's a lot missing. For example, we don't have the source they used for u-boot, which would be necessary to get ubi support. I've basically stalled on this project since there's too much likelihood of bricking my one existing unit.

Well there are two kernels to deal with, the linux version that u-boot uses (upon booting up the PE). Then there is the android that gets run from ubi. So, we should be able to get our android versions updated, not the initial linux that it uses (the one that you'd get dropped to when the update.sh is run if you omit the reboot command at its end).

have you looked at sheeva or guruplug uboot ~+ architecture. I think entourage just ripped off that platform (probably uboot) as well.
ideal I undestand you can change the uboot arguments to boot from sd card leaving the existing uboot+os untouched while booting and testing from sd. than restore the args in uboot and boot back from internal sd? just an idea guys.
