Is it Time for Christmas Music? - Page 2

You guys would have hated me as a kid! My dad had this Johnny Mathis Christmas 8-track (yes I said 8-track) that I played to Death!! Not only did I request it during Christmas, but I learned how to use the player myself and played it the entire month of July!!

Edit: I've done retail at Christmas time, and learned to tune just about everything out when I needed to. But playing one song repeatedly is a form of torture!!!

The only Christmas song I can say that I "hate" is the "Baby Its Cold Outside" song.

I do retail (well, grocery) at Christmas time but I've done the other flavor too. The music doesn't bother me in the least - it's the sheer amount of people and rudeness that I end up having to deal with!

Me too! Actually, I don't mind the instrumentals like Jimmy Smith, but I find the lyrics offensive.

The Grey Cup game is the championship game of the Canadian Football League, and is usually held each year on Sunday of the American Thanksgiving weekend. My Christmas season (and my playing Christmas music) doesn't begin until the Grey Cup is over.

It is never time for Christmas music. If you knew what I'd been subjected to in my childhood, you'd simply agree with me.

Rudolf the red nosed reindeer,
Had a very shiny nose,
And if it you ever saw him,
You would even say it glowed.
LIKE A LIGHTBULB!

And all the other reindeers,
Wouldn't let poor Rudolf play in other reindeer games.
LIKE MONOPOLY!

Polarized again, I see. Is there any topic where vehemence is not the rule? To buck this trend, I shall hereby become Mr. Middle-of-the-Road on all matters contentious or not. Let's see, on this subject I will be somewhat agreeable to most Christmas music most of the time unless it is before Thanksgiving (or if it involves chipmunks) in which case I will be mildly displeased and will at times utter a barely audible grumble but not in the presence of either children or grandmothers. And I will neither Twitter nor Facebook my opinions (although I guess I just posted them here).

We don't do thanks giving. but i guess its just a matter of time. we didnt do Halloween either but i have just seen a giant display of pumpkins for sale in the supermarket with instructions to make jack o lanterns.

i think many years of working retail this time of year smashed the joy of the season out of my heart. on the plus side working this time of year has cured me out of any materialism i had. i'm much happier giving than getting and i really don't want anything anymore.
