The next release will have show these expired book records and allow you to correctly delete them.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Will this be in .13?

Never delete your books from your master system - KOBO, Calibre, Windows or Mac as you have pai for their ebook ownership rights (you never know, you might want to read them again)
I suppose I was being a bit laid back about it because they were free ebooks from Project Gutenberg, hence no covers. I had loaded them onto the Kobo as they came, then subsequently worked out how to get covers for them. This is why I was working through calibre to take the books off the Kobo and then load in the ones with covers from the calibre library.

However, I now make sure I delete a book from the Kobo before linking up to calibre if I want to do a replacement.

But it's great that Tim has worked out the problem so others don't fall into the same trap.

I got round the problem by going into the folder called Calibre Library in Finder on the Mac (and I presume there is something similar on a Windows machine), opened the Library and then double-clicked on the Kobo icon showing on screen so I could see its stored books. Then I simply did a drag and drop of the books I wanted to load onto the KT. I pulled the whole folder across, containing the text, cover and whatever else is there as part of the book.

I did this a couple of days ago and whether it jolted something into working better I don't know, but last night I loaded about six books from Mobile Read e-books and they went across first time.

Hope that helps and good luck!

change title

I had this problem and solved it, at least for what I was doing. I was re-loading a revised book several times. Even though I had deleted the old version first, my Kobo apparently thought it already had it, and wouldn't load the revision. If I change the name of the epub file, however, it takes it just fine.

I ran into a similar issue a while back so I developed a habit of deleting books from the Kobo GUI and then power cycling. The newer firmware doesn't seem to have that issue anymore but replacing a book without first deleting it is not a good idea since the database has the records for the old copy.

Regards,
David
