I purchased the Kindle 4 to replace my gf's Kindle 3, because she wanted something lighter. Well, right away she complained that the screen was not as good as her old K3. The difference is very subtle and if you think yours is not up to par have Amazon replace it. That's what I did and the replacement was much better.

Someone else suggested the same thing so I did try that but I didn't take a pic. It made the K4 look alot worse but did nothing to the K3 contrast. I didn't have any black paper though I like to see if I add a black sticker if it would help the screen to lighten a bit.

Those subtle differences make a big difference when reading. I had to change the font on mine to be able to comfortably read on it. I also replaced the first K4 and the replacement was better then the first. I am jealous of those who have K4s that are as good or better then their K3s.
