I can't tell you anything more specific than to search the General and Q&A section of the NC forums on XDA for "WiFi dropping" "losing WiFi" and that sort of thing. It's sometimes an issue of router settings, and has been known to afflict a minority of users in a variety of setups, including stock. I've never encountered it, so I don't have much specific knowledge on the subject.

@Taosaur - I checked out your blog and there is a lot of useful info there. Once I get my new unit and get settled I'm sure I'll be seeking you for help. Thanks!

So I solved my wi-fi connection issue by experimenting with various settings on the Nook. This is the first experience with Android for me so there will be a learning curve, but so far so good. I am loving the Cool Reader application. I was concerned with the eye strain of extended reading on a back-lit device, but that application makes almost like reading a paper book. The File Expert application is also excellent thanks to whoever it was that mentioned that in the forum) as a means to transfer ebooks and other files from my computer to the Nook.

There are a couple of annoying things I have noticed though. Is the power button supposed to be so unresponsive for powering on and off? The home button as well, why does it not always take me to the home screen but sometimes to a screen that just shows the last few applications used? Also is it normal that some parts of the screen near the edges are unresponsive to touch?

Home and power aren't unresponsive, they just have multiple functions. Pushing home once takes you back to the last home screen you were on; pushing it again takes you to your main home screen; long-pressing it launches Recent Apps (I would suggest tracking down Recent Plus on the market, which adds a brightness slider and/or volume slider to that window). With power, pushing it once turns the screen on or off, while long-pressing it launches the power menu, and continuing to hold it forces a hard shut-down.

There are touch response issues toward the edges of the screen, though it varies from app to app, with the Nook for Android app being one of the worst (at least older versions--haven't opened it lately).

Thanks for the information and the app suggestion. I also found Quick Boot that I like for the way it gives me surer control of shut down/reboot options.

@Hamlet:

Thanks for the recommendations for cool reader and file expert. They are good apps that now have a spot on my main screen. Quit boot is another I have been looking for. I wasn't very happy with the stock feature of poweroff or cancel. Having the ability to reboot is very nice.
