Calibre or Kobo? Re-adding books issue.

I've done this, and every other reference i could find, but still my seires information doesn't show up on my Glo...

Please, what can be wrong?

1. Make sure books in Calibre have their Metadata set to include Series and Number info, and the Title set to just the books title. For instance, "A Spell for Chameleon" by Piers Anthony, I have flagged in series Xanth, and Number 1.00.
2. Configure the Calibre Metaboard Plugin to "massage" the title. See Metaboard Plugin thread. Mine is set to
   
   This changes the title of the book on the Kobo to the first letters of each word in the series, followed by a hyphen, the series #, another hyphen and the title.
   So the Piers Anthony book is listed on the Kobo as X - 01 - A Spell for Chameleon.
   Book 3 of the "Flavia de Luce" series "A Red Herring Without Mustard" comes over to the Kobo as FdL - 03 - A Red Herring Without Mustard.
   Books with no series info, come across as just the book.

Everything depends on what you want.

If you want the series info displayed BENEATH the title in any of the library views then you need to ensure that calibre Preferences | Sending books to devices | Metadata management is set to AUTOMATIC.

Do note that the info will be transferred on the next connection AFTER your sending the book to the device. ie: send the book, eject the Kobo and let it process the book(s), then reconnect the Kobo, let the metadata sync and re-eject the Kobo.

If you want the series info displayed IN the title of the book then you will need a plugboard as described before.

Thanks Peter - eventually managed it!
Now I still need to be able to sort by series and the default search to be on the library and not the bookstore.
I guess there are topics covering that!

Well; the sort by series is easiest done if you have used a plugboard to "embed" the series info in the book's title. As you see in my example above I "massage" the title to embed an abbreviated form of the series name followed by the book's series number.
