I'm very happy with my K3 but I might pick up a K4 touch as well. I'll wait for the reviews to start rolling in.

I'm not convinced that the touch capability is really of much benefit though, also the touch model does not have the physical page back/forward buttons on the sides which, even with the touch screen, I'm sure I would use a lot. Kind of a bummer.

In any case I hope you enjoy your Kindle.

You are correct. As long as you maintain the US Amazon account, you can use the KSO offers to that account, even though Amazon sees your location as currently out of the US.

The one thing that does NOT work is video to a non-US location. That they impose geo-restrictions on and you're blocked. A major problem for the Kindle Fire.
