Like I said, they (Duokan) would have to follow Amazon application guidlines which probably would not include alternative file formats. I don't think that Amazon would have a problem with additional pdf capabilities. I also doubt that if Duokan went through all these hoops, they would simply give it away for free.

In any case, there is no doubt in my mind that Duokan is a Kindle hack. Brick your Kindle by using it (or any other hack) and good luck getting Amazon to bail you out.

Amazon have their DRM system. They won't do epub. Therefore, they won't endorse Duokan.

I have to agree it is a hack. You agree not to use your kindle by amazon's restrictive standards. There is always a price. I chose to install the duokan and i agree amazon doesn't have to repair my kindle if there is a problem on it related with duokan.

But on the other side, i am pretty sure amazon would never let an application which handles file formats (pdf or any other file format) better than the original firmware pass the qualifications and be available for the kindle users.
