The felt fedora is always a classic and goes with just about anything except maybe a t-shirt. For versatility, I'd recommend just a plain ribbon band; a feather can look a bit dressy. Brown is a good color, though I did have a rich green fedora that I wore all the time.
I just buy Bailey brand from the men's shop downtown. |

The hat matters. Yeah. But what matters more is the face under it. And that is what it is.
We can work a bit on the poise, the attitude. You want to look tough? Fine. Then think tough. Sweet? Then think sweet. Smart? A bit more challenging. But one can learn that also. The best is just plain cool. Easy like. They know it all. I mean the girls. So if you can get one to advise you, that's the best. |

And if the face is beyond help, well, that's where hats with really wide brims come in. ![]() Quote:

I'll second [third, fourth? I lost count] the recommendation for Tilley hats. Maybe not the stylist hat that you had in mind, but durable as can be.
Biggest problem? They don't wear out! Mine [T4] is a tad too small, but since it won't wear out I can't bring myself to buy a new one! I use it as a hat (of course), pillow, sunshade, bucket, seat, and just about every other purpose that you could come up with, and it still looks new ~12 years later -- nay, better than new because of the patina on the brass hardware. More hat ideas? How about: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by twowheels; 10-12-2011 at 11:28 PM. |

A very handy hat is the basque. One can wear it in so many ways. The original one, although a bit expensive, is also water proof.
