Agree, ProfCrash. With the Amazon warranty on Kindles, you're covered well beyond the strict letter of the warranty, IME.

Do you need to ship it to Amazon US for a replacement? If you do, and it was bought locally, there will be taxes and brokerage fees before your replacement is allowed to cross the border.

If the warranty is handled within Canada, ignore what I just said.

The Sony T1 allows you to download from the library directly to the reader. Someone even mentioned using the Sony T1 to log into the Kobo account and downloading a book directly to the T1.
thanks for pointing that out, havent had a ton of time lately to read reviews.

When my wife's K3 WiFi Graphite had problems, Amazon handled the entire thing. No hit at customs. And a return label for the defective one.

Everyone who has had a Kindle replaced by Amazon has been sent a postage paid label to return the Kindle with. A few international cases have been told not to worry about returning the defective device. No one I know or whose posts I have read have had to pay for shipping, regardless of where they live.

In that case, definitely ignore what I said! And good of Amazon, not all companies go to that length for their customers.

It won't be worth it if she has a problem with the Nook and BN does not honor the warrenty. Most people do not have problems with their Nooks, so she is likely to be fine, but if she is in that small percentage that does have a problem then she is not going to be happy.
