Yeah, I'm in a weird position as well. I just tried to sync the 950 to where the T1 was, and it said I was at the most recent spot. I'll have to dig through the manuals a bit. Without a 'sync now' button, it is gonna be a matter of figuring out how the T1 times the sync with the servers.

I'm noticing that I can't select the T1 for automatic delivery of periodicals either in the store. Very odd.

Now that I think about it, maybe it was just from the T1 to the Reader for Mac that worked? And, it hasn't worked every time. I can't figure out the timing either. The T1 goes into standby so quickly. I would think that it needs to be connected to the Wi-fi to get the info and that's what the manual Page Sync on the 950 is doing. It seems that you might need to sleep the T1 to get it to transmit info back to the servers?

I went through the manuals. They were completely unhelpful. Surprisingly, the user guide says nothing except to see the Reader software. The Reader Software help document says:

Quote:
You can take advantage of your Reader Store account to keep every Reader experience perfectly in sync.
For example, you can:
Sync reading positions among all your devices and platforms.
No matter what you use - your Reader device, Reader for Android, Reader for Mac or PC, you can continue reading the book from exactly where you left off the last time.
And that's all they wrote that I can find... Everything is about syncing content via USB like the old software. I never thought that my 950 would sync more effectively than the T1. Syncing is one of the main reasons I decided to get the T1.

I constantly have problems sinking even with my 950... it works at times, at times it doesn't...

And I have never been able to sync page read between my 950 and 350 - I thought I would be able to by syncing both with the software, but no luck.

By the way, I have given up on the new software, as it seems to not recognize most of the Financial Times issues (it imports them, by now I know it does, but they are not visible under any list - neither 'books' nor 'periodicals').

Sony, I'm surprised at you.

Looks like the T1 firmware isn't completely finished in how it talks to the store. Took a look at a couple periodicals from the device. Saw a note saying there would be a firmware update soon for the T1 to support automatic delivery. I wouldn't be surprised if the weird page sync behavior is related.

This seems to be a trend with them. The Sony tablet has a couple of Sony apps that aren't ready yet. You're prompted to "check back soon".

It's a fairly new trend in the reader arena. That said, I think they were under a time crunch to ship for holiday. Moving to Android and adding features in under a year could have been tough on the programmers.

Thanks, Kolenka! I'm glad it's not just me. Very frustrating. I wish I could figure out the magic sequence of why sometimes it transmits data from the T1 and other times not. I sure hope they come out with the firmware update soon. They need to get sync to work properly as it is such a major benefit. I like how it works with my 950, and I want to be able to sync between my 950 and T1. I'm still disappointed that they haven't released an iPhone app that complies with Apple's rules.

At this point, I'd be surprised if they did. They got rejected out of the store, and probably thought it wasn't worth it at that point. Even if the answer seems simple, there's no telling exactly what drives their decisions there.

iPhone app?

Might be an old topic, but it would be great to see an iPhone app with this syncing feature working for those (few) times one doesn't have the Reader handy. I hear Apple nixed it though - can't find anything more than:

Yes, it would be great to get a working iPhone app! Don't hold your hopes too high. Sony put their efforts into an app for their tablet. The Android app has not been updated since v1.0, and the iPhone app has not been resubmitted to comply with the Apple rules like the other ebookstores did.
