Part of the issue as I see it is the closeness of the price points. I like @Kali Yuga mentioned am curious how long the Kindle (3) Keyboard will be around for.

I don't think the new Kindle lineup is confusing. The major polarizing issues among e-reader users are keyboard vs non-keyboard, touch vs non-touch, and backlit vs reflective. There are very good reasons for each side of each trade. None of the new models is perfect, but each is a reasonable choice for its target constituency. The market is now large enough to support each model.
