I have all those but I have never had the reason to hook them up to the little USB2 port. Amazon provides you the cable to do that, so why doesn't someone do it and let us know what happened.
Can you elaborate on how you would do that? The Kindle is a USB client; it cannot act as a USB host. How would you add a USB host adaptor to a Kindle?

You are really going to enjoy that Fire now!

I have nothing that connects, currently. It would be nice if the Fire could connect through Apple TV, but I guess that is pie in the sky.

I do have access to Amazon through the TV (vizio apps) though. But with the one-month Amazon Prime, I can actually use it!

What will this link give you the ability to do? The Vizio is a TV, right?

I'm really not sure Harry. I think the Fire will communicate with the TV directly to play video....at least that is my assumption. This I think:

http://www.dlna.org/digital_living/how_it_works/

As per my previous post. The TV itself already has an Amazon App so I can likely play anything there that the Fire has access to on Amazon. Also the TV it connected to a Dell Laptop that I use as a Digital Video Recorder so I could play video that way as well.

I suspect you'll find that streaming video wirelessly will be a bit "stop and start" - that's certainly what I've found. I switched to a wired ethernet connection for my media streamer, which works great. Music should be fine, though.

My TV actually connects wirelessly to my network to play from my DVR(laptop) -- that works fine -- as does playing video from the internet via that wireless connection.

The DLNA might be different, never has opportunity to use or try it.

That's good to hear. Glad that it works for you. My problem is that most of the stuff I was streaming was HiDef video downloaded from the BBC iPlayer. WiFi really struggles with that!

HarryT, you will note in my statement that I equivocated with "(I think)."

Anyway, I decided to check it out since you asked.

I first looked around on the Kindle for a directory tool which I didn't think existed, and didn't find one.
Then I did what I had thought might work, and loaded into the browser the following:

file:///c:/ and clicked on "go to"
I got back the message:
Web Browser cannot download files using this protocol. Only HTTP: and HTTPS: protocols are supported.

So we are back to using web storage which of course requires connectivity which is not a problem if you have WiFi or even 3G subject to Amazon's tariffs on downloads.
