I guess you and Joepie are the last ones still using this hopeless PB user deceit. I gave mine away. Couldn't find a buyer. Good luck to both of you.

Well, I can't afford a new device these days. I don't think I'd even give this thing away, as I usually do with devices I no longer use. I wouldn't want to turn anyone else off of ebooks. I wish I still had a working ebookwise 1150, but I gave that to the daughter of a neighbor who loves it.

And, while I can access the internal memory from windows now, the device is no longer saving the last opened book, the page I was on, book marks etc. And half the time I try opening a book, going to a menu, etc..."File System Error - blah blah blah right click in explorer...blah blah blah"...@#$@#$

Now for a round of sluggish Checking for Errors stuff.

@#%@!#$!

If I had a spare $100 right now, I'd happily toss this thing under a moving bus, and pick up a Kobo or something. Alas, I don't...

Well, after running the error checking 4 times, it stopped saying there was an error. Strangely, the only error reported in the details of the error report was a bad sector in one book that I hadn't even tried to access - and that was only reported the first time I ran it.

Now it seems to at least save the page number for now. I wonder when I'll put the DNR (do not resuscitate) order in place on this device.

you've obviously developed an addiction

still, I would follow up Tatiana's suggestion, if you are still within the 2 period warranty.

There's a funny statement: you actually gave an ebookreader to a person, of whom you guess not to be using it.

for the good wishes and a laugh!

I gave up on mine (it's mostly collecting dust in some corner), but I do remember, that my device also started acting funny once (not remember the place of the book, when shut down, etc.). There is a procedure called hardware reset, which solved the problem then. I don't recall, how it's done, but it certainly is described here in the forums.

I think the main problem with this device is poor hardware QC. Chipsets etc may have changed across development, and/or several batches may have been less than optimal. Ideally the same firmware would behave identically on all units on a fresh install/new device, yet that's never been the case with people experiencing a myriad of different problems and difficulties; some can't even use the same firmware as others without their device becoming flawed beyond belief. I think people are mostly using 15.1 or 15.2, with some experimenting with the newer beta releases with a range of success.

With respect to hardware QC, Apple they ain't.
