I'll add Infernal Devices by K.W. Jeter. Originally written in 1979 and his word skill is excellent. The plot, action and writing is very Victorian. No zombies. Very tame by modern steampunk standards. Not the daredevil Indiana Jones action or bizarre fantasia seen in the genre today. But his word artistry made me get my dictionary out.

I've heard of the author from his Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep sequels, but never got around to actually read any of his work. I will pick him up this time, thanks!

Surprised I didn't pay attention to this genre before, I've been enjoying it a lot so far.

Boneshaker was a great read. Loved the world and the story. Priest's other books are now on my to read list.

Went through Leviathan and Behemoth by Scott Westfeld very quickly. I found it to be a light read, but a very enjoyable story. Need to get Goliath now.

Starting The Native Star now.

Felix Gilman's Half-made World.

Not traditional, but there's definitely steampunk elements (including airships) in Anthony Huso's The Last Page.
Jonathan L. Howard's Johannes Cabal series.
Genevieve Valentine's Mechanique
Lavie Tidhar's The Bookman and Camera Obscura

I second Perdido Street Station. It's a large tome and I loved it. Un Lun Dun by China Mieville is a brill read too, although I thought it was aimed at younger readers. Mieville has a great imagination.

I like the "classic" steampunk books, but I also like the new style stories, like The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi. It's a future dystopia with steampunk and biopunk technologies. Very interesting stuff.
