Thanks, I tried switching off - didn't sort it......
Confession time..... I yanked ! All still present & working, thank goodness. Will try again later today, see if it was a one-off glitch. [Fingies xxxxing ] |

Unless you need the reader software you can go into preferences and stop it opening up when you connect the Sony to the PC, that way just use Calibre for now, at least until the Sony Store opens in the UK.
Any book you buy from anywhere can be loaded into Calibre, just use the 'Send to Device icon, which pops up when the Sony is conected to your PC and Calibre is open, to send the books to your Sony. One thing I love about the Sony readers and Calibre is that the tags in Calibre automatically become collections on the Sony. |

Thanks Josieb1 - I have always had trouble transferring from original d/load window
[ie "Tools" - "Downloads" ] but have just discovered I may have been trying to drag&drop them too high up on the Calibre Library page ! I like the times I have Calibred stuff over, seems more intuitive than the Sony s'ware ... Am going to try the Preferences tip on Reader now. |

Cracked it - I think....
My mistake was not being logical ! [Not a first.... ] When I started the d/load, up comes the "where too, then" bit , automatically showing Reader , Adobe, and Others. BUT below it says "Save file ?" Yes, of course !! The d/load window then shows it being d/loaded, and I can then Rt click, Open containing folder, drag&drop highlighted file... to... CALIBRE ! Duh.... Now to transfer to device - left reader in car, of course, shows how confident I was..... |

That's almost how I do it on my computer. I download all the books to one folder, then open Calibre, and use the red Add Books button on the left to add all of them that way. That way I can import all of them in one go. Useful for when I download a long series of books, or "harvest" the free ones posted in the forum here.
