I'd like to delete on the device itself. I don't want to have to remember to do that later, when my computer has access to the SD (or built-in storage).

In terms of samples: If you leave the wi-fi off, you dont get samples. If you leave the wi-fi on, as soon as you see a sample pushed (i've only gotten 3 total and I was a release day buyer), just pop to your B&N library online, delete them and hit the little refresh on your nook - poof, its gone!
