I used to be perplexed by the differing treatment of groups/teams.
US: The team is ... UK: The team are ... I thought my UK counterpart at work had a problem with subject/verb agreement until I looked it up and realized the rules were different. Before I knew better, it was much more cringe-worthy than spelling differences. |

I've been reading Quadrophenia, and it's a mix of both English and American. Colour is spelt right, but a lot of the words have a letter Z in them instead of an S.
