FWIW: if I understand the problem described in post 6, you can use a user category to do the query. Create an empty user category, search for books with the language, select all the books, then drag the authors to the user category. A search using that category (@cat_name) will find all books by those authors. You can, of course, add more search terms.

On the other hand, given the size of your library, my guess is that performance won't be ideal.

This is an option I did not think of.
Indeed, it is not optimal, but it is much better than the current way I handel non-language-tagged books
