Purchased the Archos 101 as a gift for my fiancee. She was very dissatisfied with it. Apps were slow and the poor quality of the screen was apparent. She compared it to an Ipad and found it quite wanting, which it was - ended up selling it off and buying an Ipad 2 for her.

I hope I don't offend the OP of this post. But I will say you cannot compare a low end model to a higher end product . Had you bought a Xoom/Transformer/Thrive/Galaxy Tab your girlfriends experience would have been a world of difference.

The old adage "You get what you pay for" applies here.
