I just keep a Calibre tag of TBR. I either buy the book when I see it and it catches my interest, or I borrow it from the library. If I can't remember it, then it probably isn't worth my time anyway

All the books that I'm interested in are all in my Kobo or iPod.
And on an average, I read one book per day, or else I'll never get done! |

A small part of my list is in the 300 titles I have yet to rename and move to my own directory setup then moved through Calibre to unencumber them & flag them as unread after which I move them to my Kindle into the needed collection.
But really I will likely never read through a third of my collection before I croak...I have over 2000 titles I want to read to varying degrees. But many are new authors who I might not finish should one of their books make me unhappy. I recently did that with Larry Corriea. After slogging through Monster Hunters Unlimited I could not muster the desire to read the next in the series and his other titles are poised for moving to the read only if stranded on a topic isle and building sand castles gets boring pile. To me that is the beauty of the vast selection to which we now have at our fingertips. If I don't like it, dump it from my slush pile. Not very willing to read books that don't hold my interest. I do give an author at least one full read before the exile, mostly. |

I honestly don't have any kind of list--formal or informal. "Winging it" is part of my fun.
Ten years from now I may find discover a book in my collection that I forgot all about, but really, really wanted to read at the time of purchase. How cool would that be? Like finding a twenty-dollar bill in an old jacket pocket. ![]() |

I have a collection on my Kindle Called To Be Read and one called Reading.
The Reading collection holds all the books that I have not read but I am most interested in reading. I have 35 books in that collection. The To Be Read collection holds all the books I have not read that are on my device. I think there are 127 books in it. It contains books that my Mom has bought that don't look all that interesting to me, are pretty inexpensive but look like they might be good, or where free. |

You guys are really helping me in getting rid of the guilt for not maintaining a list. I didn’t want to have list initially but after buying same book twice, I thought it will be a good idea. Then I didn’t have Calibre and the book was a paperback. So there goes the list now..!!
Thank you all for sharing your views. |

Another reason to love Amazon, they have a nice yellow bar across the top of the screen that lets you know that you bought it and when. I suppose this wouldn't help if they have multiple volumes or editions of the same book.

My entire Calibre library is a TBR list. I have created a Date Completed column in Calibre that once I finish the book, I delete it off my Kindle and add the date I completed the book. Everything on my Kindle is unread. I do have most of my books organized by series and typically once the series is finished, I remove it from the Kindle.

I keep all of my books on my DX and probably about 90% of my books on my K3. I love that collections made it easy for me to carry my entire library with me.

I have in my employ a full-time man-servant, whose sole responsibility is to keep track of my book purchases and readings.
When I finish one book, I simply ask Manse to relate the list to me, and I have him mentally filter it by genre, author, date of purchase, and length. I eventually narrow down the list (a simple process of elimination) until I arrive at what will become my next read. Works like a charm. |

I don't keep a list.
![]() I recently started a "freebie" list because I bought a book and then later found out I had already downloaded it as a freebie but never read it. ![]() (Hopefully I *like* the book; I don't mind buying a book I will like, but it will be disappointing to have paid to read a book that I didn't enjoy and could have read for free. ![]() |
