The first ebook I read was one of the 100 preloaded free books that came with my Kobo. It was either Alice in Wonderland or The Count of Monte Cristo.
The first ebook I purchased was something that cost 99 cents as I wanted to make sure the whole "buying books and downloading them" thing worked.
The first ebook I purchased to read was The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo.

Time Travelers Never Die by Jack McDevitt was my first ebook. I always get McDevitt's latest book for Christmas, and that year was no different.

I just checked. The first book that I bought was the Short Stories of Hemingway from ereader for the Palm. That was in 2005.

Before that, I made my own books, and read them as text files. Finding that ebooks could be purchased, that was really good news. Already formatted, whow.

Oh my, that was so long ago I don't even remember. I think it was either Dracula or Frankenstein, read on a Casio Cassiopeia E-115 in the very first version of Microsoft Reader for PocketPC way back in 2000.

I used that device for reading up until 2004 or so, then relapsed to paper books until the iPhone store opened up in 2008 and I started reading again with the Fictionwise eReader app. After a few months of that I switched to Stanza, upgraded to a 3GS in 2009, and then this year switched to WP7 and Freda. I also tried several e-ink devices over the years (Sony PRS-300, Nook STR, girlfriend's Kindle 3) but I keep going back to reading on small-form-factor devices, perhaps because that's how I started e-reading in the first place.

First book I bought was The Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I've read it three times earlier, and still have the DTB. It sits in my Kindle for reference and "passage" reading.

The first book I read on my Kindle was The Theory of Everything by Stephen W. Hawking.
After that, I read Shawn Cormiers trilogy; Nomadin, Nidemon and Necromancer.

The first book in the Women's Murder Club by James Patterson. Incidentally, that was also my first James Patterson. My husband had gotten me that bundle when he got me the reader, so I read it! (November 2008, Sony 505)

I first read Dracula by Bram Stoker in my Kobo.
That was the first novel that I read in my Ipod too.
I was unable to bring my Kobo outside since it was raining, I loved it too much and I was paranoid. So I just uploaded the book in my iPod and resumed reading using that.

I just got my Sony in October. I read The Vintage Caper by Peter Mayle, a library ebook. It was terrible!!!! Luckily, I didn't judge the cover by the book, and I continued to use my reader. I've read some great books on it since then.
