More logical : divide by 8 , 16 , 32 etc. .

You don't have to convert in calibre to get the page numbers. Calibre generates the apnx-file when you send to device.

I don't look at the page numbers/locations much while reading, but I use the count pages plugin to display the numbers in calibre. It's nice to have some idea of the length of my books showing in the library.

I convert a lot of .rtf and .epub files to mobi using calibre, and I notice all of them show page numbers on pressing the menu key on the kindle. I suppose it's calibre that's adding them during the conversion process.

So, I would conclude that it would be possible to convert .azw files from amazon into .mobi format using Calibre, and read the .mobi on the kindle. That should give you page numbers.

EDIT: I didn't notice tilia's post above before replying.

I read using K4iPad, but just 3 days ago, I downloaded K4PC onto Tim's computer. He wanted to read a book that I had just finished. The first thing that I noticed was that his copy showed page numbers, whereas mine only showed location. Weird, right?

Probably just means that K4iPad hasn't yet been updated to display page numbers. It's a fairly recent addition to K4PC.

From Amazon's Kindle for iPad:
Quote:
New Features on the Kindle for iPad App

Real page numbers for thousands of books in the Kindle Store, with more coming soon. Now you can make proper citations in the classroom or follow along with people reading print books in a book club.
So, you probably have an older version of the app. This is also now available for the iPhone version, but not yet for Android so far as I can tell.
