There is absolutely no good thing I can say about the PRS 505.

"The grapes are sour anyway."

What are you on about? That was totally inappropriate.

I wanted to say that I want the new PRS 505 very much, and just like the proverbial fox from the Aesops tale that proclaims the grapes it can not reach "sour", I can not bring myself to praise it the new Reader. ;-)

I am sorry that my link to the Aesops tale was not clear enough

I think in that case, your post would have been better in the "what's the worst thing about the 505" thread.

I actually think your sour grapes post was funny. LOL. But maybe the forum policeman here is too serious.

It was a literary joke, Jon . The meaning was obvious to anyone familiar with Aesop's fables - ie that he wanted a 505 but because he couldn't get hold of one, was determined to say that there was nothing good about it.

Quote:
One hot summer's day a Fox was strolling through an orchard till he came to a bunch of Grapes just ripening on a vine which had been trained over a lofty branch. "Just the thing to quench my thirst," quoth he. Drawing back a few paces, he took a run and a jump, and just missed the bunch. Turning round again with a One, Two, Three, he jumped up, but with no greater success. Again and again he tried after the tempting morsel, but at last had to give it up, and walked away with his nose in the air, saying: "I am sure they are sour."

It is easy to despise what you cannot get
This is the origin of the expression "sour grapes".

I agree with all the comments about the new screen - the specs don't seem that different, but the new screen is noticeably easier to read in lower-light conditions. The grouping of authors by letter would be my next favorite feature, that's really saves a lot of button presses when you have a lot of books loaded. After that, the ability to enter a page number and go to it.

I'm sort of neutral on the other hardware changes... I use it in its cover, so I haven't noticed any difference in thickness. And the other hardware changes I thought were minor.

Ha! I missed the allusion the first time 'round -- that's hysterical.
I missed it the first time round too. Sorry about that.
