Really just couldnt wait...
just went ahead and ought it. Its coming around $205 after duty and shipping charges..

due date is expected 12-16th August.

I just got my Kindle

Now how do I create collections in the Kindle so that I can arrange my books in a custom order (Genre->Author Name)

First, register your device and turn the WiFi or 3G on.

Once you have done that you will have the option of creating collections. There is a menu option for creating a collection. I would create the folders that you want first (genre I guess). Then you can add books to it by pressing right on the D Pad. You should get a menu that asks if you want to add or remove books from the collection, delete the collection, open the collection.

I dont have wi-fi anywhere near my place (I use LAN cable for connection) and mine is not 3G

Can I do this through calibre?

You have to turn on the whispernet before you can use collections. Once collections is activated there is a way to use Calibre but I don't know how.
