did your register your device (kobo) with Adobe Digital Editions. I was having the same problem until I registered and then I could drag those books into Kobo.

The fact that you were able to add one book suggests that your Touch is not defective. Something to check is your Adobe Authorization. Go to settings on your Touch and select Account. According, to another thread in the forum the entry for Adobe Authorization should be the same as your Kobo account, which is your e-mail address. If they are not the same you should get another Adobe ID from Adobe. You will then probably have to do another factory reset before connecting your reader and using Adobe Digital Editions to authorize the reader. |

I've experienced this problem many times before with the first-gen Kobo (not the KT so far, touch wood), and from my experience, the Kobo will (re)index added books after disconnecting. If it gets to a book it doesn't like, it'll choke on it and refuse to process the other books. Sometimes removing the faulty book was enough, once or twice I opened the DB and saw there were erroneous entries to be removed. If the problem can indeed be traced back to a corrupt epub, then it sounds like the KT is similar... |

I have the same problem as Corpse Goddess, I think. I was able to get files from the internet to migrate to my Kobo. However, the library book is giving me a lot of grief. I can open it using Adobe Digital Edition with no problem, and I can see it when I click on the Kobo device icon - I can't find it at all after I eject Kobo from my computer (Mac OSX Lion) and start up Kobo. I wonder if it's due to the new Mac software? I'm going to try Calibre and see if that makes any difference at all.

This sounds like a Digital Rights Management (DRM) problem since library books would have DRM but public domain books would not. On your Touch, check your accounts under settings. Is there an Adobe Authorization entry and is it the same as your Signed In As entry?

No one has asked but is this Kobo Touch properly up-to-date with firmware? Using www.kobobooks.com/desktops? The desktop should report 2.0.3 and the Device Information report 1.9.9; the data and time on the device should reflect current time (important with library books); the advice on ensuring the Kobo Touch is registered to the same account (ie email) as Adobe ADE and Kobobooks.com has been mentioned.
Corrupt books through non-commercial sources are possible and can gum up the works. They are easier to trouble-shoot going slow. Users should never have to tinker with .sqlite files so if you (or anyone) is already that far down the path, it's time to regroup and try to start at square one -- recheck all the basics and then add a book at a time. |

Everything was up to date, and my device was recognised--it had to have been one of the books. I'm adding them in batches now--so far so good. I haven't hit the "problem child" yet, but now I know what to look for.
I've also noticed that now my Kobo Desktop is also recognising the books, and updating my "last added" books accordingly. What a relief. And thank you all again--this is a great forum and resource. ![]() |

Too many times I'm been down this road (spending 3-7+ hours) trying different trial-and-error to get some parts of gadgets working before reaching an epiphany. It's great if you're able to fix the problem. |

Very often it seems that it is not a problem with the gadget as much as it is a problem with the actions of the gadgeteer. For eBooks, trying to load books with questionable provenance is one of the most common sources of problems like this. Not the only one, of course, but common enough to bring into the discussion.

Can you tell me which book(s) from Project Gutenberg you were trying to side load on the device? |

It definitely was individual books that were the issue--I've since found more that won't load. I now do them in batches to avoid the problem.
Dave, I didn't keep track of all the ones that were a problem, but I do know "The Wendigo" by Algernon Blackwood was the first one that seemed to be causing all the problems I experienced at the beginning. When I went through the list of books I initially downloaded, that was the first book I came across that wouldn't show up on the device. |

I finally got things to work. I uninstalled the ADE software (Adobe Digital Edition, reset my Kobo, and everything finally worked.

After you unplug your kobo, while the screen on it is still black, press the Home button. Should kick into "Processing new content" mode. It always sees all the books that way for me
