Blame Win for not being .net compatible.

I requested additional activations at 2 PM yesterday and received them about 12 hours later, in the middle of the night.

What I'd expect. I periodically run into problems with activations for Audible (again, my work life requires frequent rebuilds, and I don't always remember to deactivate a computer.) They're always very responsive and quick to reset me. Never had an issue. The only people I've EVER had an issue with is Apple. (surprise? Not hardly)

Deactivating a PC does free up a slot for iTunes or for Audible, I'm quite sure. I have no idea if it does for ADE, since I haven't run into an activation issue with it yet. But for both iTunes and Audible, it very much DOES make a difference. I have personally verified this with both, when I hit the limit and was able to find a machine that I could deactivate on. The issue comes when the machine that you want to deactivate no longer exists. The activation limit for iTunes is 5 PCs (notice I'm not saying devices here), and for Audible it's 4 PCs, I believe. But the difference is that Audible is very open to resetting your activations. Apple far less so. (You can do it once a year.)

Harry's right, de-authorization does not give you another ADE authorization to use elsewhere. But over time, Adobe increases the limit associated with your Adobe ID (it reduces support calls) and you can contact them to do so as well.
But if you just want to view epub files, there's a epub plugin for Firefox, and also Ibis reader (browser based reader w/web apps for iOS/Android). Ibis reader will even work in Kindle3 browser. |

I believe they give you six more, but in the email telling me that it was done, they don't say how many. The URL is: http://www.adobe.com/support/digitaleditions/ Look on the right and click on "submit a webcase". Then scroll down to "Get Support". In the technical support tab, make your choice for issue type--I chose "Using a product or service". Choose additional products and then, from the pick list, Adobe Digital Editions. You will get a text box--write in your request. During the process, at some point, Adobe says it can take up to three days, but I have never waited more than one. I have requested new activations three times. |
