AC Adaptor: Will a USB to AC (like an old iPod charger) suffice? - Page 2

I've found that my spare Android phone charger where the USB gets plugged into the box works wonders.

But on the same token, I've found that using the USB port on my power inverter doesn't work worth a damn. I need to plug the box into the inverter and the usb into the box instead of just the direct USB.

Technology is weird

I bought one of these:

It's a wall outlet with two USB power ports. I was going to mount it in place of the outlet next to my desk chair, where I currently charge my phone and readers using the standard sort of wall warts. But the box in the wall is too shallow; there's not enough room behind it for the wires. My house is older and this is one of the original outlet boxes - the more modern boxes I put in when I wired the garage would fit this outlet. But I don't want to charge my devices in the garage. So I set the outlet aside; I'll install it somewhere someday. But now I am wondering if it would even turn out to work, or if it would not have the two shorted pins that match up with the newer stuff?

Anyone installed one of these?
