Just FYI: I deleted the Zinio app, and freed up almost 5 gigs. That thing had been clogging up my ipad for over a year.

About the only thing that I can figure is that it was storing my magazines onboard the ipad inside the app somewhere. Who knows?

Supposedly the Zino app causes the iPad to take almost forever to backup using iTunes.

I bought a 64GB iPad thinking that I would need it. Much to my surprise, I only use 6.5 GB. I don't have any music on it because I'd prefer to use my Sansa Clip or DroidX for stored music, but the bluetooth radio is really solid. The range is great and it's very clear so I usually use a BT headset instead of plugging in headphones. I can have the iPad in the living room, walk 2 rooms over and still be connected. I also don't keep a bunch of pictures on it.
What I didn't realise is how much I really enjoy using the cloud. I have Carbonite backing up my entire desktop and I also use Dropbox. Whenever I need a file of any sort, I just go into the Cloud and download it onto my iPad. I like that my iPad isn't all junked up w/ files and am quite surprised that it isn't. When I bought it, I thought 64GB would be too small, but I'm pleasantly surprised that it has been more than enough. I didn't even realise how much I relied on the cloud, but am totally loving it! ![]() I agree w/ the others to get the biggest one that you can afford and then see how you use it. If I had bought the 16GB I might feel like I'm restricting myself, but now I realise it's just how I naturally use my iPad. |

I've got the 16, I think that was the entry level one that came out last year. I've got most of it tied up in games I don't play and books I don't read. But their bookshelf is so pretty ![]() I remember about a month and a half ago, I was sick with a stomach flu and went on an iTunes shopping spree. I bought close to 12 adventure games, I think I only played three of them since then. I do love how old is new again with the iPad though. Simon the Sorcerer? Flight of the Amazon Queen? Broken Sword.... It was great when I figured out how to JB it and downloaded dosbox. Oh, SOL, how I missed you ![]() |

All that I have on my iPad are books (PDFs, comics, manga), some documents in Pages, a few games (5-6) and perhaps 30 apps or so and some pictures. I watch the occasional video on it, but delete it after viewing. I have a 16 gig iPad and perhaps half of my memory is in use. I don't listen to music on my iPad.
If choosing between a 16 gig iPad with 3g and a 32gig wi-fi only iPad, I'd pick the 16 gig, personally. Everyone's usage is different, however. Last edited by Latinandgreek; 07-30-2011 at 09:55 PM. |

Thanks to all for your answers.
A few more questions. 1. Wifi only or 3g and why. Leaning toward Wifi only. 2. Screen protector or none. 3. Anyone hear anything about iPad 3 supposedly coming out in Septembeer 4. Anyone try streaming Netflix to the tv through the ipad. How was the quality. Carol |

1. I have the 3G just in case... It is relatively expensive to pay for data for just the iPad but since there is no commitment I have the 3G just in case. If you think you are going to need to use the iPad and there is no WiFi available it may be cheaper to get the WiFi version and pay for Tethering on your phone. Assuming that your phone can be used as a WiFi hotspot like the iPhone and many Android phones out there.
2. Yes yes yes yes yes Yes yes yes yes yes Yes yes yes yes yes Yes yes yes yes yes Yes yes yes yes yes Yes yes yes yes yes Yes yes yes yes yes Yes yes yes yes yes Yes yes yes yes yes 3. I have heard on an iPad HD or Pro or something to that effect but it has all been rumors though I would think it will be much of an upgrade considering the iPad 2 just came out and Apple tends to stick with 1 year refresh cycles for the iDevices. 4. I have and the quality is as good as your connection. Also remember that your TV screen is much larger than the iPad so it may be grainy. |

My experience appears to be the opposite of most people on this thread. I bought a 32GB iPad 2 thinking it would be more than enough for my use. After all, I have a 32GB iPhone and I don't even use half of its capacity. Unfortunately, I was able to fill the iPad up with manga (Japanese comics) the very weekend I received it. Replaced it with a 64GB iPad 2 which currently has only 20GB free space. That's without any music or videos on the device - purely books and a small portion (~5%) of manga collection.
Unfortunately, while I do use cloud storage, it's not particularly practical for my iPad usage. A single volume of manga can be anywhere from 20MB to 100MB depending on compression used. Not very fun to wait for downloads via 3G and if you've got a tiered data plan, it'll eat up bandwidth quickly. Basically, it boils down to how many things you need/want to have offline access to at any given time and whether or not you have easy access to Wi-Fi. |

2. Works well enough without one. The screen on the new iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad are surprisingly tough. Definitely want a case, though. 3. While it'll probably be in production as early as September, don't count on it being released until at least April 2012. 4. I use an HTPC for that. Watching Netflix on the iPad itself works pretty well, though. |

2. Never used any cases/covers for my iphones/iPad 1, but did get the Smart Cover for the iPad 2. It is very cool for traveling in my briefcase every day, but to tell the truth, I take it off when I use my iPad at home. 3. I have read rumors, but nothing concrete. 4. You mean over the optional HDMI cable adapter? Never tried it ( I have an AppleTV 2 with Netflix) but I read it works fine. |
