For convenience, here's a link to the DecalGirl skins for KoboTouch. I think DecalGirl has some of the best looking skins out of the skinning places I've seen.

I compared a black Kobo Touch and a white Kobo Touch side-by-side in a Chapters store today. No question: the screen looks brighter on the black unit. Yes, it's an optical illusion, but that doesn't make the effect any less significant. My wife could see the difference at a glance, too. I bought the black.

I got the black, even though I originally wanted white/silver. Now that I've had it about a week, I have absolutely zero buyer's regret -- though I'm planning on skinning mine soon, anyway.
