Thanks for the response. Scratch that as causing the error

Easier way (on recent versions) to check Custom Plugins:
Click the "Plugin Updater" Icon: Set Filter on to: Installed

Just type view in the search bar above the plugins and it click next a few times, it will show you all plugins with the word "view" in their names/description.

I don't have any plugins installed. I have only added the one extra "Read" column. Other than that, I'm 'straight out of box' standard.

You are correct. In the library view the columns for me for 'on device' and 'read' are gone. The only way to get them back is to 'restore default layout' in the library view, via a right click on the column headers.

Hmm well I can't reproduce this issue but I have made one small change that I suspect might fix it. Try 0.8.12 tomorrow and see.

I upgraded, restarted, plugged in, unplugged, and plugged back in my Sony a few times and so far everything is working as it should.

Works GREAT! You guys rock!

Installed, hooked up the ereader, modified the database view back to how I like it, did some ereader maintenance, added some books to db and device, removed device, closed calibre, started calibre, hooked the ereader up -

IT'S ALL GOOD! Thanks again! I appreciate your trouble.
