Ditto. But on the other hand, I'm pleased with the free books they've given me--I was able to get rid of my existing paper copies for most of them.

And thanks to pageturner for telling us about the settings--that was the key clue!
Yes, I love settings - I never have to open their stupid app again! At least it's a source of free books. You can choose either button once you buy the books (or just click the X to close it), since neither one actually lets you download a book.

Thanks for the tip! If you don't mind my asking, does deactivating your account also destroy your previous purchase history? I've got some former freebies on account that have gone back in price and if that's the case I'll be taking the new secondary account route with these three.

Actually, I'd probably better do that anyway, given Copia's issues.

Yes, it wipes out everything. You need to not have the three problem books in your purchase history in order to reacquire them, and everything else goes with them.

I already had a second account that I had created expressly to try to get these books some time ago, so that's the one I deactivated and re-created.

I keep backup copies of the former freebies on my hard drive anyway, though.

Thanks for the reply. I also keep downloaded backups, but I like having the extra redundancy of stuff also being "in the cloud" while it lasts.

Off to pick which secondary email address to use.

All I did was log out and create a new account.

then, logged into the original account when done (to add the latest free book).

I'm glad some of you were able to get the free books. It was tricky at first, but free books seem worth the effort. Once you know how to do it, it's easy. They're still in beta so I'm giving them some slack on working out the more annoying kinks.

Copia's had ePub freebies in the past, so they're not always PDF. But it seems like the latest few batches have been.
