A seven incher!

I'll bet this will be a big seller.

a new 7-inch tablet has just been spotted. Confirmed details for the 7-inch IdeaPad are rather slim still but rumors are suggesting this one will be powered by a TI OMAP3621 processor, a 7-inch 1024 x 600 touchscreen and various other goodies like 3G connectivity, SDCard slot, front and rear-facing cameras all rounded out with a 3700mAh battery.

First impressions

Quote:
The FedEx guy dropped off Lenovo’s first Android Honeycomb tablet this morning, the IdeaPad K1. The K1 is a 10-inch tablet running Android 3.1, not the latest version, along with some Lenovo customizations designed to help it stand out from the growing Honeycomb crowd. I’ve only had time to get it set up and play with it for a bit so I can only share first impressions of the K1.

If that 7 inch version of this has the digitizer pen, and HDMI out / USB I'm sold. I'll buy it as soon as I get the money - maybe tax refund time.

I like the HTC Flyer with its pen, and I like the Thrive with its useful ports. If this has both, it's like the perfect device for me!

I've got a convertible windows 7 tablet (HP TX2) and nothing beats having a pen to write notes on pdfs, powerpoints, or a quick note...and great for note-taking in class/meetings/etc. Really have a hankering for one in Android once in a while.

oh, wow, I believe the Business Model is the only tablet to be offered in a 16:10 format? That alone is very significant to my decision. Right now it's moved to my short list of options. If they would offer a pocket sized device as well I could be sold now. I trust the Lenovo brand. In fact I read they actually offer what reads like accidental damage coverage on this device. I assume it will cost extra but might be worth the price as I am going to be traveling a lot over the next couple years.

But the screen ratio really has my attention as well as it using Gorilla Glass.

follow-up. I noticed that all three of these are 16:10 ratio screens. That is great. I do hope they offer a Tegra3 version early next year running Win 7 if it works out on the Windows 7 version. I can make-do with an Android device but it is my very last resort option on my list. I have so much legacy data and tools that are Windows based and am too old to change over.

So, let's say a normal, non-techie person was going to have their hands on a ThinkPad Tablet (aka the business model; not the K1, not the A1) for a few days...what would be of interest?

Depends on whether that person has the keyboard or not too. That's what captures my interest the most. The layout is about the most comfortable looking I've seen on a tablet board. I've heard good things about the touch sensor in the middle of the board as well, but not with any depth.

You know all i want to hear is how you used it from a business usage.

Tablets are nice but from a day to day content creation usage they are still lacking. Lenovo has tried to fill that gap id be interested in hearing what they have done. Also I'm interested in the pen technology.

Unfortunately said person is not going to have exclusive use of the keyboard folio. Said person has seen and held it in person and the combination of keyboard and tablet in folio is HEAVY.

Compared to the tablet by itself anyway. Together the tablet with the keyboard folio is @3.5lbs.
