What character are you using? The extended character or its HTML equivalent?

I want the source file to be clean, with just one source file for all versions, if possible. (If corrections are needed later, I don't want to be updating multiple source files. Been there, done that.)

I'll think about it and let you know.
For the ePub, doing what you want is very easy. So if you do decide to do it, just let me know.

As to how to publish it outside the USA and not use Smashwords, that's a tough one.

I'm talking about the downloadable Kindle Previewer available here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...cId=1000234621

Proofing in the various "Kindle for ..." apps is fine, but they do not replicate the book's display on a Kindle device particularly well. While its probably best to preview in all of the apps, if you use only one use only Kindle Previewer.

What the--? In all the conversations about ebook publishing that I've had with people on all the different forums and email loops, I never heard that there was a downloadable Kindle previewer. You learn something every day. Thanks!

And now I've tested my snippet in the Kindle previewer, and both symbols display correctly there. What did I say before? Only one did in K4PC. I wonder why.

Um, the extended character, I guess. One I got in Word using Alt+9733 on the numeric pad, and the other I got from the Symbols dropdown list.

I'm not touching the html, beyond exporting from Word to filtered html and importing that into Calibre.
